This was a challenging collaborative effort, done with no budget, limited time and lots of wonderful volunteers! My church – Vineyard Bath, wanted a short and simple film which communicated the overall vision and mission of the church. We decided to involve lots of different members of the church saying parts of the church vision statement to camera, with a nice white background created by a makeshift studio in the church office. We added text to introduce some colour and movement, and to make it more accessible. Here’s the final version…
The senior pastors of the church also wanted to create some short films where they could tell the story of planting the church as well as setting out the main values the church aims to live out in the community and beyond.
We begged and borrowed a few different pieces of kit, but all the films were shot using two Canon 5D Mark IIs, one with a 50mm prime lens and the other a 24 – 105 zoom lens. Sound was done with a Rode VideoMic Pro on a mic stand linked in to a Zoom H4 audio recorder.
One of my jobs is based in Bristol Baptist College, and this last year I’ve been working with the staff and students there to create a set of films called ‘Spotlight’. These films aim to tell the story of some of our students, and to provide a snapshot into life as a student on placement. Here are two finished films featuring congregational based students Anne Dunn and Luke Mansfield.
This is the fourth in a set of six films I was commissioned to make for Scripture Union’s ‘Word Live’ website. It was filmed at an abandoned military base near Bath, England. The concept and writing for all six films was done by Alex Taylor and Becca Dean.
